Development of transport plans

In collaboration with the Madrid Regional Transport Consortium, this is the first time that the entire cartography of the capital has been edited in a unified way, with the transport network and equipment on a scale of detail.

New maps group different districts and areas of the city that will be continuously updated in their online version.

Geograma, an expert company in Geographic Intelligence and specialized in offering services for the capture, treatment and management of geoinformation, development and integration of GIS, has participated in the development of new plans to detail transport and the street map of Madrid.

SOLUTION

The Regional Transport Consortium has published eleven sheets on the capital, which group different districts and areas of the city and which will be continuously updated in their online version.

In each of these eleven maps, the routes of the buses of the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) and the exact location of the stops are reflected, as well as the accesses to Metro de Madrid and Cercanías, indicating which of the stations have a lift among their facilities.

It is the first time that the entire cartography of Madrid with the transport network and equipment has been edited in a unified way, at a scale of detail.

The Consortium has used new technologies based on Geographic Information Systems and advanced Geograma cartographic production techniques in order to make them valid for both digital and printed cartography. In addition, data from other public sources have been used thanks to Open Data and in this way; the plans have a “solid cartographic base, constantly updated”.

The new maps, which will be constantly updated in their Web version and in the Regional Transport Consortium, can also be edited for installation in publishing banners, canopies, metro stations or plane boards.
