GEOGRAMA - How to manage surplus soil in your works and / or excavations?

How to manage surplus soil in your works and / or excavations?

What to do with the land that is accumulated while a work progresses? This is one of those key questions that people in charge of it must respond to. And it is more relevant than it may seem at first. To streamline this process, digital solutions have been developed in order to allow it to be managed from start to finish. Throughout this article we bring you what we have developed from Geograma, Tracex.

During any work or excavation, a circumstance arises that acts as a common denominator. It is basically what to do with the excess soil that is generated throughout the process. The ones responsible for it have several options, from taking it to an authorized landfill, to reusing it on site or taking it to private property under prior agreement, to mention the most common.

Whichever is chosen, it requires an investment of material, human and financial resources. Therefore, it is highly recommended to optimize this waste management. This is the main pourpose why our Tracex solution arises.

Tracex is the result of an R + D + i project in which Geograma, De Diego, Esla Ballonti, Sidenor, Belako, BVAPPS and Tecnalia are involved.

How does Tracex work and what are its benefits?

It is a digital platform to trace and quantify the circularity of excess excavation land and secondary materials in construction applications. Among its most important benefits, we have,

  • It improves the traceability and efficiency of material resources throughout the value chain.
  • It reduces the costs associated with logistics and sale of material resources.
  • It optimizes the exchange of information between the agents involved to optimize the different operations of the value chain.

The Tracex solution consists of a web platform and a mobile app.

The platform allows a user to create an account and add announcements of “buy & sell” resources. Also use the resource search engine, where you can enter the data related to the supply / demand search for the resource.

Based on the above criteria, the platform will propose search results, suggesting a series of alternatives to our needs through a system of affinities.

It also integrates a calculation engine and a dashboard that quantifies the impacts and returns of the transaction carried out. The impacts are reflected in the dashboard or scorecard that includes key indicators.

Finally, the platform will manage the documentary information associated with the exchanged resources, contractual documentation, certificates, etc. and will serve as a connection with other management systems (internal management, Ingurunet, EEH Aurrezten, etc.).
