In collaboration with the Regional Transport Consortium of Madrid, this is the first time that the entire mapping of the capital city has been published in a unified way, with the transport network and facilities at a highly detailed scale.
The new maps group different districts and areas of the city, which will be continuously updated in their online version.
Geograma, an expert company in Geographic Intelligence and specialized in offering services of capture, processing and management of geoinformation, development and GIS integration, has participated in the development of new maps to detail the transport and street map of Madrid.
The Regional Transport Consortium has published a total of eleven sheets on the capital, which group together different districts and areas of the city and which will be continuously updated in their online version.
Each of these eleven maps shows the routes of the Empresa Municipal de Transportes (EMT) buses and the exact location of the stops, as well as the accesses to Metro de Madrid and Cercanías, indicating which accessible stations have elevators.
This is the first time that the entire mapping of Madrid, including the transport network and facilities, has been published in a unified way at a highly detailed scale.
The Consortium has used new technologies based on Geographic Information Systems and Geograma’s advanced cartographic production techniques in order to make them valid for both digital and printed cartography. In addition, data from other public sources have been used thanks to Open Data and in this way the plans have a “solid cartographic base, constantly updated and updatable”.
The new plans, which will be constantly updated in its Web version, in the Regional Transport Consortium and can also be edited for installation in bus shelters, Metro stations or planeros.
